Nikkei Chooses Brightcove Platform for Online Video Initiatives

We are very excited to announce today that Nikkei, Japan's leading newspaper, is standardizing all online video operations on the Brightcove platform. Nikkei will use Brightcove to publish advertising-supported online video content across The Nikkei Online Edition (http://www.nikkei.com), as well as extend the reach of their video offerings through advanced sharing and syndication features for distribution through third-party websites, social networks and portals.

Nikkei is one of Japan's largest media corporations and publisher of the country's top business daily newspaper. Nikkei's circulation tops 3.1 million copies, larger than many counterparts in the US including Wall Street Journal and USA Today.

Today's announcement comes on the heels of the launch of the fully localized version of the Brightcove online video platform and a wide range of recent customer wins in Japan including Rakuten, Tokyo Metropolitan Television (Tokyo MX), Television Osaka, Shizuoka Asahi Television, Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS), CHubu-Nippon Broadcasting, PRESENTCAST, Asahi Breweries, Sony Music Networks Japan, Shueisha webUOMO, orangepage.net, among others.

Nikkei joins a fast-growing list of newspaper customers using the Brightcove platform, which includes New York Times and New York Times Regional Newspapers, Guardian News & Media, Times Online, Daily Mail, Hearst Newspapers, Cox Newspapers, Freedom Communications, Media News Group, Tribune Total Media, China Morning Post, Axel Springer, Zeit Online, OMS, among many others. Collectively, Brightcove's newspaper publishers operate ad-supported online video operations across more than 300 newspaper websites globally.

We are thrilled to see fast-paced adoption and demand in Japan and across the newspaper sector on a global basis.
