We are delighted to announce that our long-standing customer TVNZ is continuing its partnership with Brightcove to provide its new enhanced on-demand video service, “TVNZ OnDemand”. TVNZ is New Zealand’s largest television broadcaster and has been a Brightcove customer since 2011. The enhanced TVNZ OnDemand service features new exclusive programs and improved playback on desktop, iOS and Android apps, and Samsung Smart TV devices. In addition, Brightcove Video Cloud enables TVNZ to offer viewers a more personalized viewing experience by allowing each viewer to create their own program lists and get recommendations for other content they might like.
Since TVNZ OnDemand launched in 2007, it has grown consistently (reaching a new high of 6.3 million streams in October 2014). At the end of 2014, TVNZ reported that viewership for the service was up more than 50% over the previous year. With the expansion of TVNZ OnDemand, viewers continue to have access to the content they love, including some of New Zealand’s favorite shows such as Shortland Street, The Big Bang Theory and ONE News. New exclusive content is also offered, such as episodes of Shortland Street.
TVNZ uses Video Cloud’s advanced transcoding capabilities and built-in digital rights support to ensure content protection. With Video Cloud’s robust monetization capabilities and integrations with third-party ad tech providers, such as Doubleclick, TVNZ is able to deliver ad-supported video experiences across all devices.
