As we mentioned in a post in late February, we are excited to sponsor Sheryl Sandberg's Lean In conversation, organized by the New England Venture Capital Association and taking place tomorrow at the Harvard Club of Boston. And we are now even more excited to announce that we are powering the live stream for the event. For those interested in attending who were unable to secure a ticket before the event sold out, tune in to the Brightcove Video Cloud player below beginning at 8:00 a.m. ET tomorrow (April 5th) to watch Sheryl’s presentation and the Q&A session live.
We will also be live tweeting the event; follow the hashtag #NEVCASandberg for updates in real time.
Our sponsorship of this event is only one piece of Brightcove's broader efforts to empower our employees--especially women. Beginning this month, Brightcove is launching a formal Women's Initiative in all of our offices around the world. As a company--and especially as a technology company--we strongly believe in enabling and supporting the success of women at Brightcove. We will share additional details in the coming weeks and months, but initially the program will entail:
- A formal guest speaker program, designed to encourage Brightcove's women employees to feel confident striking a personal and professional balance for career growth
- An official mentorship program, providing Brightcove's women employees with a professional support ecosystem
- Regular, informal networking opportunities with successful businesswomen who can share details of their own path to professional success
Essentially, we believe that Sheryl Sandberg's book is a wonderful conversation starter. Whether you agree with Sandberg's perspective or not, Lean In has generated tremendous discussion about the tools--and balance--necessary to achieve career success. These lessons benefit everyone striving for career growth and productivity, regardless of gender. As a technology company, we do recognize the need to foster and support women in the tech community and are delighted to embark on a formal Women's Initiative.
We hope you'll join tomorrow's livestream (directed and produced by our own Mykim Dang), and check back for more details on our Women's Initiative--coming soon!
