If you're a fan of Chrome Developer Tools, you might be frustrated by the lack of similar debugging capabilities on your mobile devices. Sometimes you want to inspect the DOM, print messages to a console, modify styles on the fly, or peek into local storage.
Enter remote debugging, the process of debugging a program on a different machine than the debugger itself. Weinre (pronounced winery?) is a remote debugger maintained by PhoneGap and based on—you guessed it—Chrome Developer Tools. It's pretty great despite the name.
Check out the hosted version at debug.phonegap.com. All you do is drop a
<script> tag into your target web page—in our case, a view running in the Workshop app—while the remote debugger runs in your web browser.
You can also run Weinre yourself if you're feeling brave. Good luck!
