NHK for Schools Partners with Brightcove to Deliver Secure, High Quality Video Content

Today, our colleagues at Brightcove KK in Japan announced that NHK for Schools, an educational program run by Japan's national public broadcasting organization, became our first customer in Japan to take advantage of digital rights management (DRM) features in the Video Cloud online video platform.

Following the tragic earthquake this year, many schools in affected areas were not able to prepare appropriate learning materials for students. To aid in this effort, NHK for Schools launched a downloadable service of educational video programs for elementary schools in the affected areas, and selected Brightcove Video Cloud to support the delivery of video to the schools. With Video Cloud, NHK for Schools is able to provide a high quality video experience to students, including those in affected areas where Internet connections have not yet been fully restored.

NHK for School is taking advantage of Video Cloud's support for Adobe Flash Access to provide secure content delivery to these schools. With Flash Access, each individual video is secured and encrypted at its origin, including metadata and policies, to prevent unauthorized viewing or downloading. This gives NHK for School the highest level of security control for Flash-supported environments.
