Daniel Chin, Senior Customer Solutions Specialist - Tier 2 Team Lead and Warrior Dash survivor tells us about himself and working at Brightcove. Daniel works on developing solutions to solve complex technical issues and provide a high level of customer service. He also leads support efforts to manage our communication plan to customers in the event of a system related issue.

Why did you join Brightcove?
I was drawn to Jeremy's vision and focus on being the market leader in the industry. I remember watching a two-minute video segment online of him prior to being interviewed for the support position. Jeremy was being interviewed in the video and articulated Brightcove's value proposition. After watching the video, it became immediately clear to me that this was a unique breed of company – and I wanted in. After the interview process and having the chance to interact with other Solutions Specialist, I knew this was the right company.
What is the typical day in the life for you?
Working in a diverse team environment and developing solutions for our diversified customer base, from software architects, web developers, business managers, video editors, product managers, and energetic entrepreneurs, every day brings a new challenge to service our customers and find the most effective solution that meets their needs.
Where are you from and where did you attend school?
I'm from Cranston, Rhode Island, and grew up in a neighborhood called Edgewood, a great place with a lot of character. I completed my degree at Bryant University, where I studied Business/Marketing and discovered a passion for the Humanities.
How did you end up in Boston?
I’ll borrow a quote from one of my favorite’s movies, Good Will Hunting, “I had to go see about a girl…”
What kinds of hobbies and interests do you have outside of work?
I really enjoy a great conversation, often with friends who offer a fresh perspective on topics ranging from technology, politics, current affairs, and sports. My favorite outdoor sport is tennis and really anything that involves a racquet! I especially like the company challenges down at the ping-pong room!
I also enjoy learning about the study of wine (viticulture); frequently attend local tastings and taking trips to the local vineyards with my wife. One of my life goals is to travel to Tuscany, Italy, home of my favorite grape, Sangiovese.
What is your favorite memory or experience at Brightcove?
I was able to attend the first Brightcove "Winter Fest" in January of 2010. During this event, colleagues from all over the world descended upon Boston to interact and learn about the history of the company and future plans for growth.
Jeremy presented to everyone the rich and exciting history of our young company and outlined our future strategy. I was still a relatively new employee, so this was a great experience, because it helped me see the "big picture" and feel part of something special.
