Here at Brightcove, we are passionate about a lot of things, but one of the most exciting aspects of the work we do is getting to see all of the great content that our publishers create. We are in the business of helping our clients publish and distribute their digital media content efficiently, but sometimes it’s important to take a step back from the day-to-day work and simply appreciate all of the diverse types of content that our customers are making available to the public.
One note-worthy example is a Brightcove Video Cloud Express edition customer, Immpreneur.com. The aim of this new venture, according to founder Foulis Peacock, is “to help immigrants achieve their American Dream by becoming entrepreneurs in their new adopted country. The site gives our readers inspiration, resources and real how-to advice.” The informational, newsletter-style site provides a host of resources for these up-and-coming “immpreneurs” to help them achieve their business goals. The established video section is a great example of how even smaller companies can incorporate video as a major portion of their online content. Immpreneur’s video portal is also a welcome reminder of the ways that online video can reach a wide and diverse audience for the purpose of inspiration and information. The videos range from interviews with successful business-owning immigrants to tips and advice from American business professionals. The goal is to make business-related resources readily available to immigrants from many walks of life, and it illustrates the beauty of online video: that it can be accessed by anyone, anytime, and in an instant.
Not only is Immpreneur making valuable content accessible, it’s also following some key best practices in its video distribution. As we highlighted recently, AOL CEO Tim Armstrong shared a few tips for video publishers, one of which was to place video everywhere possible. The Immpreneur founders have picked up on the advantages of wide-ranging distribution, and have peppered their site with video players, making it easy to find valuable content throughout the website.
Founder Peacock says that “we plan to have at least half of our content being video within the next twelve months.” Sounds like the folks there are as excited about the power of sharing through video as we are.
