Name: Kait Mackenzie Role: Sales Analyst
What is the typical day of a Sales Analyst?
What is so great is that every day is different due to the nature of our industry. Every morning I run reports to monitor sales performance, data quality, and developing trends. I am also involved in strategic meetings to create and improve upon internal systems and processes. I am lucky in that I get to work with every department in Brightcove.
When and why did you join Brightcove?
I joined in June 2007. I wanted to work for a startup technology company. A recruiter told me about Brightcove and as soon as I did some research I knew I wanted to be a part of it. I believed in the mission and was excited about the technology.
What is your favorite memory or experience at Brightcove?
A couple of years ago I was creating my own player and thought of a new feature. I brought my idea to our Product Managers and it was implemented in the next sprint. It was so exciting to have an impact our product!
Where are you from and where did you attend school?
I grew up in a little town in Massachusetts on the South Shore called Hanover. After graduating from Hanover High School I went to Babson College in Wellesley, MA. I graduated with a Business Management degree with concentrations in Entrepreneurship and Marketing. While at Babson I played lacrosse (and field hockey for two of my four years). Being a part of those teams was one of the best experiences of my life.
What kinds of hobbies and interests do you have outside of work?
I am a woman of many hobbies. I am an avid skier in the winter and love to mountain bike in the summer. The majority of my vacationing involves or is based around these two activities. I have recently starting running in races and competing in triathlons. I play on a women's lacrosse club team in Boston. Food (cooking and eating) as well as crafts are other hobbies. I am always working on some sort of craft project.
What is your hidden talent?
I am a really good at crocheting. My friends think I should sell my creations. I recently made beverage koozies with starfish on them for friends in Nantucket. A couple of months ago I made a winter hat with the Brightcove logo on it.
What keeps you coming back to Brightcove each day?
The people at Brightcove. Everyone I work with or pass by in the hallways is smart, nice, and passionate about what we are doing. Seeing the enthusiasm, innovation, and passion for what we are doing is very inspiring and makes me excited to go to work. We also have a stocked kitchen, which is also awesome and is a small part of what helps me get up in the morning.
What type of person should work at Brightcove?
I appreciate the fact that we have a hard hiring process. We have high expectations of each other here and we don't like to let each other down.
