Situation

Motorola Solutions provides mission-critical communications products and services to enterprise and government institutions, some of which can help firefighters see around buildings and police officers see around street corners. With better information, you get better results. Motorola Solutions’ products provide the type of real-time data sharing and versatility that empower the workforce and transform the enterprise. Its technologies can make complete supply chains visible to retailers or entire power grids visually accessible to utility workers.

Motorola Solutions needed a way to showcase the capabilities of its sophisticated products and solutions via powerful and engaging online video demonstrations. These videos could then be shared with existing and prospective customers, as well as distributed to over 20,000 channel partners worldwide.

Visualizing Powerful New Solutions

Motorola Solutions sought a robust platform capable of distributing video content in multiple areas across the company’s public-facing website, including but not limited to www.MotorolaSolutions.com. Videos are located within individual product and solution areas, as well as within a comprehensive video library, all powered by the Brightcove Video Cloud online video platform.

Having a sleek, customizable online video platform was essential to Motorola Solutions’ branding and messaging business goals.

“Our investment in Video Cloud has been extremely beneficial,” said Damon Popovich, website release manager of global integrated marketing communications for Motorola Solutions. “Our goal was to use Video Cloud to maximize the management and viewing capabilities of our video content and extend the reach of our product expertise and overall messaging for Motorola Solutions.”

Motorola Solutions’ video content can be quite extensive in its detail. Many of the products are highly technical and require in-depth video demonstrations in order to fully communicate their capabilities, effectiveness and overall value to potential enterprise and government customers.

“We have a lot of rich video content and our users like to see actual products in action, how they work, and how our solutions can benefit their operations at a government or enterprise level,” Popovich said.

For example, Motorola Solutions’ video surveillance solutions bring together a new wave of advanced technologies to transform video security systems from a passive and simple surveillance system into an active, more collaborative and intelligent system of capabilities. While the desired result – safer communities – is easy to understand, the technology behind the solutions is relatively complex.

Now, using Video Cloud, Motorola Solutions customers can view video testimonials from security team members, police and dispatch operators who have used the system to not only view suspicious behavior, but syndicate the video feed to a neighborhood patrol officer’s mobile device, so the officer knows what to expect when arriving on the scene.

Also available are in-depth video descriptions of how and why Motorola Solutions has improved the performance of previous generation products, as well as demonstrations of new product solutions that provide advanced technological capabilities previously only imagined.

The Motorola Solutions LEX 700 Mission Critical Handheld is described on the website as “a device that arms first responders with street-ready data.” To complement the product description, the video provides a real-life scenario demonstration and shows the product in action. Viewers can watch how the device’s features, including detailed descriptions of any prior incidents at a location or address, building maps/blueprints and live security video feed, can be best utilized in a variety of security scenarios.

“We have a simplified process in place for managing video content from the Video Could for inclusion within the overall online product and solution experience,” Popovich said.

“We can showcase the features, benefits and specifications of highly sophisticated products and solutions, and now, thanks to Video Cloud, include a rich video experience to demonstrate the tremendous end-to-end capabilities as well. It’s a great fit for our advanced technology-focused brand image.”

Forward-Looking Future Opportunities

With 16 country sites supported by www.MotorolaSolutions.com, Popovich hopes that the company will be able to further integrate Video Cloud into additional properties, such as the mobile site experience and both public and private-facing portals.

“We’d like to integrate rich video content across all of our public-facing web properties, including our mobile website,” Popovich said. “The Video Cloud online video platform we’ve created for www.MotorolaSolutions.com allows us to embed and automatically pull our rich video content into these various websites through the use of Brightcove’s application program interface (API), giving us greater flexibility to distribute video content.”

In addition, the company is exploring ways to use Video Cloud to direct viewers toward specific calls-to-action (CTAs), whereby users can watch a video, take in the experience, and then act on what they saw (e.g. view additional product information or explore purchasing options).

“Brightcove has been extremely supportive in our efforts to extend the Video Cloud online video platform to reach its full potential for our business needs,” Popovich said. “We look forward to evolving the overall Motorola Solutions video experience in partnership with Video Cloud.”

Indeed, for Motorola Solutions customers, seeing is believing. And the company is enjoying newfound visibility and access for its solutions with Video Cloud.
