Jeremy founded Brightcove in early 2004 with a vision for the transformation of television with the Internet. As Chairman & CEO of Brightcove, Jeremy leads the company's technology, marketing and business development strategy. Prior to founding Brightcove, Jeremy worked as a technologist and entrepreneur-in-residence for Cambridge, MA-based venture capital firm General Catalyst, where he worked on companies and investments in broadband media, mobile content, e-commerce software and digital identity. Before General Catalyst, Jeremy was Chief Technology Officer of Macromedia, where he helped define and launch the Macromedia MX platform for Rich Internet Applications, helping to evolve Macromedia Flash into a dominant platform for rich media applications on the Internet. Jeremy joined Macromedia with its merger with Allaire Corporation, where Jeremy was a co-founder and Chief Technology Officer. Founded in 1995, Allaire Corporation was a pioneer in using the web as an application platform, and its industry leading and award winning products power millions of websites, online services and business applications on the Internet.
Elisabeth is responsible for defining and executing Brightcove's go-to-market strategy, including working with major publishers, marketing and distribution partners. Elisabeth joins Brightcove from News Corporation's British Sky Broadcasting subsidiary in London. Over nearly a decade at News Corporation and Sky, Elisabeth held a variety of senior management roles, including directing Sky's broadband and new technologies strategy and operations, its new media division, corporate development and strategic planning roles. Elisabeth was also instrumental in the initial launch of Sky Digital, Sky's breakthrough digital satellite video distribution platform. Elisabeth also worked directly in the office of the CEO, helping to launch global joint-ventures as well as leading Sky's sports rights acquisition deals. Elisabeth was a Fulbright scholar, a graduate of Harvard University, and has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a JD from Columbia School of Law.
Andy's responsibilities include Brightcove's strategic relationships, corporate development, and all of Brightcove's legal matters. Andy also supports the establishment and maintenance of Brightcove's relationships with its commercial partners, publishers, and consumers. Andy joins Brightcove after 5 1/2 years at Lycos, Inc., where he was Vice President and General Counsel. While at Lycos, in addition to heading a team responsible for all of Lycos' legal affairs, Andy also played a leading role in negotiating and establishing many of Lycos' key US and international relationships, including with companies such as Google, Yahoo, Microsoft, Bell Canada, AT&T, and Fox. Andy has written and lectured extensively on various ecommerce and Internet issues. Before joining Lycos, Andy was in private practice with Choate, Hall & Stewart in Boston, and Shearman & Sterling in New York. Before that, Andy served as law clerk for the former Chief Judge for the United States District Court for Connecticut. Andy received his JD from Cornell Law School, where he was an Editor of the Cornell Law Review, and his BA from Tufts University.
Ed is responsible for leading Brightcove's global human resources efforts and organizational effectiveness. Ed brings over 20 years experience in successfully scaling organizations combined with a proven track record of improving efficiency, productivity, and bottom line results for high growth, global entities. He has extensive experience in the design and delivery of value-added HR service delivery models that seamlessly integrate and support business strategies. Prior to Brightcove, Ed was a founding partner of MentisNetwork LLC , a strategic human resources consulting firm that focuses on building and streamlining the management, employee, and infrastructure capabilities needed to maintain and increase competitive advantage in today's evolving marketplace. Before founding MentisNetwork, he was EVP, Human Resources for Razorfish where he led the global HR function for this international, publicly traded provider of professional and technology services. With a reputation for being a collaborative and influential leader known for developing and deploying innovative programs that deliver measurable results, he helped establish the company as a leading "employer of choice" within the industry. Ed holds a BA from the College of the Holy Cross.
As President of Brightcove K.K., Hisashige "Qz" Hashimoto is leading Brightcove's operations in Japan and drive overall customer acquisition efforts targeted at Japanese media companies and marketers. Qz joined Brightcove in 2008 after two years as president and chief executive officer of Paygent, a mobile auction escrow service he launched in 2006 and grew to 2,000 customers before leaving in 2008. Prior to Paygent, Qz worked in three different senior management positions for Macromedia KK, helping lead the Education, Channel Marketing, and Platform Product Marketing divisions. Before Macromedia KK, Qz had engaged in various IT businesses from network solution for carriers to hardware distribution with lots of overseas business partners (US, Europe, Israel, Russia, Korea, China, Taiwan, India etc.) over 14 years with Mitsui & Co., Ltd. including 3 years in Mitsui France. Qz holds B.A. in law from Tokyo University.
Tareef is responsible for defining the product road map, leading the development team and launching the Brightcove service. Tareef joins Brightcove from Ruckus Network, Inc. There, he successfully led the development and launch of multiple releases of the company's on-demand college entertainment service, providing a legal alternative for students using music and video media on the Internet. Prior to Ruckus, Tareef was the Director of Commerce Development at ATG. In his seven years at ATG, he helped define and launch over six releases of the ATG Commerce product serving customers such as J.Crew, BMG Music Service, and Best Buy.
Bob co-founded Brightcove with Jeremy Allaire, and provides leadership for Brightcove's vision, design and architecture. He plays an instrumental role in working with Brightcove's customers and partners. Occasionally, he is still tasked to write code. Bob Mason joins Brightcove from Art Technology Group (ATG) where he was a founding member of the product development team, having joined in 1994 as the 10th employee. During his 10-year tenure at ATG, Bob provided technology leadership in formulating the company's growth and strategic positioning and as a Senior Software Architect was the technical leader for software architecture and development through over 6 major product release cycles, including ATG's Java-based Dynamo Application Server, Personalization, eCommerce, Portal and eService solutions. He was also the technical leader for ATG's pioneering services projects including MovieFone's initial online ticket system and Sony's online gaming and entertainment portal, The Station @ Sony. Bob holds a BS in Computer Science from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
As Senior Vice President of Sales for the Americas Region for Brightcove, Mike Quinn is responsible for the Direct Sales, Account Management, and Partner/Alliance initiatives. He brings more than 20 years of sales management experience, most recently serving as senior vice president of sales for the Americas at Fast Search & Transfer, which was acquired by Microsoft in 2007 for $1.2B. Prior to FAST, he served in leadership positions at Akamai, Egenera, and UUNet. Mike was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and received his Masters of Management degree from the Kellogg School of Management.
Vanessa Wade joined Brightcove in 2008, bringing over 20 years of experience in leading high performance sales teams at software companies, both in the US and EMEA.
In her previous role she served as Director of Continental Europe for BorderWare, a leading email security provider and before that she was GM EMEA at Mailfrontier where she was responsible for rapid revenue growth prior to the company being acquired by Sonicwall.
Ms Wade has also held the position of VP EMEA at Oblix, an enterprise identity management company following on from working at Allaire Corp where, as a senior member of the management team, she was directly involved in bringing the company through a highly successful IPO.
Native of Poland, she is a graduate of the Institute of Economics on Swidnica.
As vice president of marketing at Brightcove, Jeff Whatcott leads all marketing activity for the company. Prior to joining Brightcove Jeff launched Acquia, a commercial open source startup, and continues as an advisor to the company. Prior to Acquia, Jeff served as vice president of marketing and business development in Adobe's enterprise business unit, responsible for the Flex and LiveCycle product lines. Prior to Adobe, Jeff held a variety of senior product leadership positions at Macromedia and Allaire.
Jeff is a proven thought leader in web platform technology strategy and a passionate advocate of the open source development model and community-centered marketing. He is a frequent public speaker and panelist on topics including open source, social publishing, and rich Internet applications.
Jeff holds a Bachelor of Science degree in economics and Master of Business Administration degree, both from Brigham Young University. Fluent in English and Japanese, Jeff has helped grow strong businesses and form successful alliances worldwide.

Deb Besemer currently serves as a board member to Brightcove, Bullhorn, Double-Take Software and My Perfect Gig. She also recently joined custom jewelry startup Paragon Lake as CEO.
Besemer brings nearly 30 years of software industry experience, most recently serving as CEO of BrassRing, where she grew their SaaS business 10X over several years, resulting in a successful acquisition by Kenexa. She also spent 12 years at Lotus Development where she was responsible for all worldwide operations, including sales, regional marketing, business partners and channels, consulting and support. This encompassed overseeing 4,000 people and more than $1 billion in revenue.
Jim has been responsible for Accel's investments in over twenty-five companies that have completed public offerings or successful mergers. Scott Kurnit is currently an investor and advisor at the cross-section of media and technology. Mr. Kurnit founded and served as chairman and CEO of About, Inc. as it grew to a public market value exceeding $1.5 billion (About is now owned by The New York Times Co.). During his tenure, About was the fifth most visited web property and first among news, information and entertainment sites. About is the third company Mr. Kurnit has founded.
Kurnit, a holder of four patents, led the team that put the first web browser into an online service, started the first Pay Per View cable network and co-led the team that implemented the first use of national caller ID. He was also the youngest program director in the PBS system and served as program director for Qube, the world's first fully interactive cable system. Mr. Kurnit was president of Showtime Event Television when it generated the largest one night gross in the entertainment business and aired the first rock concert from the former Soviet Union.
Employed directly or through joint ventures, Mr. Kurnit has worked at the highest levels of Warner, Viacom, News Corp., PBS, IBM, and MCI.
Mr. Kurnit, named one of Advertising Age's annual "100 superstars of U.S. marketing," has been inducted into the American Advertising Federation's Hall of Achievement and won the prestigious Vanguard Award from the National Cable Television Association. Mr. Kurnit won an Emmy as producer of a weekly television news magazine; Upside recognized him as one of the "Elite 100" leading the digital revolution; and, he was cited three times as "a strategist to watch" by the Journal of Business Strategy.
Mr. Kurnit received his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Communications from Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts. He and his wife reside in New York City.
In addition to sitting on the Brightcove board, David Mendels currently serves as a Fellow at the New England Clean Energy Council and as an Advisor to Allurent. Mendels is a recognized leader in the development and strategies behind rich Internet applications. He brings nearly two decades of experience as a general manager, corporate strategist, thought leader, and deal maker focused on making the Internet easier to use for consumers and developers.
At Macromedia, Mendels served as executive vice president and general manager, leading product development, marketing, and alliances including the setup and launch of international operations in Latin America and Japan. In this role he directly managed Macromedia's flagship products, including the Flash and Flex line, Macromedia Studio and ColdFusion. Mendels joined Adobe following its acquisition of Macromedia in December 2005 and led the company's Business Productivity business unit where he was responsible for $1 billion in revenue from products including Adobe Acrobat(TM), Acrobat Connect(TM), LiveCycle and Flex.
As a Managing Director of General Catalyst Partners, David Orfao concentrates on deployment infrastructures, tools, application development and packaged applications within the enterprise software sector. He is a board member of the following active General Catalyst investments: Avaki Corporation; Laszlo Systems, Inc.; IMlogic, Inc.; Imprivata, Inc.; Service Integrity, Inc.; Ping Identity Corporation and Impress Software, Inc.
Prior to co-founding General Catalyst, David held the positions of President/CEO and Senior VP of Sales Operations and Marketing for four publicly held companies. Most recently, David led Allaire Corporation from 1997 to 2000 as President/CEO/Board Member. During his tenure, Allaire grew from a venture-backed start up to an $119M public corporation trading on the NASDAQ. The company pioneered the Internet Application Server market with industry leading products such as ColdFusion and JRUN. In January of 2001, Allaire merged with Macromedia Corporation and continues to be a leading Internet software company.
Prior to his CEO role at Allaire, David held the positions of Senior VP of Sales Operations and Marketing at Frame Technology Corporation, Claris Corporation, and SQA Corporation. Frame Technology and SQA Corporation were venture-backed corporations that successfully completed Initial Public Offerings on the NASDAQ.
Throughout his career, David has been an angel investor, advisor, and board member to several companies, including Marketsoft Corporation, Voxeo Corporation, and Firespout Corporation. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business and Accounting from Norwich University of Vermont.

Adam Berrey is currently working as an Entrepreneur In Residence (EIR) at General Catalyst Partners. From 2005 – 2008 Adam served as SVP, Marketing & Strategy at Brightcove, responsible for developing and implementing Brightcove's marketing and business strategies. Adam joined Brightcove from Onfolio where he was President and part of the founding team responsible for launching the company in 2004. Prior to Onfolio, Adam was the VP, Marketing at Macromedia where he led the launch of the Macromedia MX platform for Rich Internet Applications. Adam joined Macromedia when they merged with Allaire in 2001. He was part of the founding team at Allaire, and during his five year tenure, he held a variety of positions leading strategic marketing and business efforts in product management, product marketing, marketing communications, and business strategy helping to grow the company from $500,000 to more than $100 million in annual revenue.
Adam Gerber joined Quantcast as Chief Marketing Officer in October 2007. In his role, Gerber is focused on establishing the company as a leading provider of audience addressability solutions across the advertiser supported digital media industry.
Most recently Brightcove, Inc.'s Vice President for Advertising Products and Strategy, Gerber joined Quantcast with almost 15 years of traditional and digital agency media planning and buying experience. After leading traditional planning activities for clients such as P&G, Unilever, Bell Atlantic, UPS, Labatt USA, and Goldman Sachs, he was a founding partner of WPP's Digital Edge unit (now MEC Interaction). Thereafter, he led the development of emerging and digital media capabilities for Publicis' MediaVest unit. A widely recognized leader in online and emerging advertising, Gerber has served in various industry advocacy roles, including committee chair positions with the American Association of Advertising Agencies (4As) and the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB).
Tim Hanlon is Executive Vice President/Managing Director of VivaKi Ventures, the strategic partnership and investment arm of VivaKi – the digital services hub of marketing services agency holding company Publicis Groupe, S.A., comprising Starcom MediaVest Group, Zenith Optimedia Group, Digitas, and Denuo. He is chiefly responsible for the solicitation, negotiation and oversight of the unit’s strategic partnership and investment activity – focused exclusively on paradigm-changing “new media” platforms and technologies. His current role is an outgrowth of his previous work as head of ventures activity for both Denuo and Publicis Groupe Media, and includes formal advisory and directorial positions with over three dozen early-stage companies.
Prior to founding the Denuo Ventures and PGM Ventures practices, Hanlon was Senior Vice President/Director, Emerging Contacts for Starcom MediaVest Group. He was chiefly responsible for all US client activity and agency initiatives in the field of emerging media technologies, including the firm’s ground-breaking TV 2.0 Practice, centered around evolutionary television platforms such as interactive/enhanced television, on-demand video, digital video recording, interactive program guide navigation, addressable advertising, and digital broadcasting/datacasting.
Hanlon has over 20 years of traditional and interactive agency media experience including roles as Vice President/Director, Strategy & Business Development for the Digital Marketing Group of Chicago-based marketing services agency Frankel, and Director of Interactive Media at Creative Alliance in Louisville, KY. He also served as the Advertising Media Manager for the in-house agency of credit card issuer MBNA America in Wilmington, DE, USA.
Hanlon also has wide-ranging journalism experience, including production and writing stints at CBS News, Sports Illustrated and the Voice of America.
Among numerous advertising and television industry activities, Hanlon has been Chairman of the American Association of Advertising Agencies (AAAA) Advanced Television Committee, a founding member of the Steering Committee of the Innovation in Digital Advertising (IDiA) Consortium, and a founding member of the National Academy of Media Arts & Sciences (NAMAS). In 2004, he was an inaugural recipient of Interactive Television Today’s Leadership in Interactive Television Award, and has been twice named to MEDIA Magazine’s “Media 100” list. His insights into the future of media and advertising are regularly seen in major electronic, print and trade press outlets.

Until 2005, he was president and creative director of Advance.net, the online arm of Advance Publications. Prior to that, Jarvis was creator and founding editor of Entertainment Weekly; Sunday editor and associate publisher of the New York Daily News; TV critic for TV Guide and People; a columnist on the San Francisco Examiner; assistant city editor and reporter for the Chicago Tribune; reporter for Chicago Today. He says he is at work on a book.
Paul Vidich left Time Warner in 2006 after 19 years as a senior executive in its AOL and Warner Music divisions, where he was executive vice-president in charge of worldwide strategy and business development. At Warner Music, he negotiated the first major label license agreement with Steve Jobs for iTunes, which set the precedent for Apple's subsequent acquisition of music rights from the other music majors. Vidich left Time Warner to pursue a career in writing and now attends the MFA program in creative writing at Rutgers-Newark. He is a board member of Poets & Writers and other cultural institutions. His short stories have been published in several online and print publications, including Wordriot.org, Wheelhousemagazine.com, and Mrbellersneighborhood.com.
